Conference delegates can expect a warm welcome to the capital and will get exclusive access to a number of the city’s top sites.

ECOC is the largest optical communications event in Europe and a key meeting place for more than 1,500 scientists and researchers from institutions and companies across the world.

The conference features more than 400 oral and poster presentations from some of the biggest names in the telecoms industry, providing you with the latest insights into cutting–edge technologies whilst keeping up to date with the latest industry developments.

As well as being one of the largest scientific conferences globally, ECOC also features Europe’s largest optical communications exhibition, providing you with the chance to connect with new prospective customers and build relationships with existing customers.

Newgrange

This year’s logo is based on Newgrange – an ancient 5,000-year-old Irish passage tomb (making it older than Stonehenge and the Egyptian Pyramids) located about 40 miles south of Dublin. It was chosen as the logo because of its light passage which is aligned to the rising sun on the Winter Solstice.

One day in the year a beam of light penetrates the roof-box and travels up a long passage and into the inner chamber. As the sun rises higher, the beam of light widens, dramatically illuminating the chamber and revealing the carvings inside.

The innovative and precise use of light at Newgrange felt like a fitting way to represent ECOC, whilst also showcased Ireland’s rich history and heritage.
